Roaming the valley
Flathead Lake fills the north end of the valley. The Mission Mountains rise straight out of the eastern flats. The CSKT Bison Range puts a working buffalo herd in tribally-managed habitat at Moiese. Historic mission churches, tribal cultural centers, and a museum in nearly every town fill in around the edges.
If you have one day, the choice is between water and the mountains. If you have longer, do both. Most outdoor activities run May through October; cultural sites stay open year-round on shorter winter hours.
