Miracle of America Museum
Sprawling "Smithsonian of the West" history museum in Polson
About the listing The do & see
Founded by Gil and Joanne Mangels in 1981, the Miracle of America Museum has grown into one of Montana’s largest and most eclectic collections, earning the nickname “the Smithsonian of the West.” Spread across dozens of buildings just off Highway 93 in Polson, it traces American history through artifacts, vintage vehicles, military collectibles, aircraft, wooden boats, logging gear, and the Montana State Fiddlers Hall of Fame.
Plan on a few hours to wander the grounds and pioneer village, where kid-friendly displays sit alongside thousands of pieces of memorabilia. The museum’s open daily from 9 to 5, and it hosts annual events like WinterFest in January and Live History Days each August. Stop in to see how much one place can hold.
