St. Ignatius
Gateway to the Mission Mountains.
St. Ignatius sits at the foot of the Mission Mountains, looking up at one of the most dramatic skylines in Montana. The town grew up around the Catholic mission established by Jesuit priests in 1854, two decades before Montana became a state. The St. Ignatius Mission church still stands at the south end of town, with original frescoes painted by Brother Joseph Carignano in the 1890s.
