Four Winds Indian Trading Post
Montana's oldest trading post, Native goods and antiques since 1970
About the listing The shop
Four Winds Indian Trading Post sits right along US-93 in St. Ignatius, where Preston Miller has run it since 1970. It bills itself as the oldest continuously operated trading post in Montana, and the place is packed with both antique and contemporary Native goods: trade beads, blankets, drums, moccasins, hides, ribbons, clay pipes, jewelry, books, and artifacts. Historic salvaged buildings and an old wagon round out the grounds, so it reads as much like a museum as a shop.
It’s an easy stop on your way through the Mission Valley. Summer hours run 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and winter hours are noon to 5 p.m. daily, so stop in to browse the collection or call ahead at (406) 745-4336.
