Energy Keepers
CSKT-owned operator of the Sélis̆ Ksanka Qĺispé hydroelectric dam
About the listing The work
Energy Keepers, Inc. is the tribally owned company that operates the Sélis̆ Ksanka Qĺispé Project, the hydroelectric dam on the Flathead River about five miles southwest of Polson. It’s wholly owned by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, who acquired the facility in 2015, becoming the first tribes in the nation to own a major hydroelectric project.
The three-unit plant generates carbon-free power that’s sold into markets across the U.S., while operations balance lake levels, river flows, and downstream fisheries. It’s a working facility rather than a visitor attraction.
