This page tells you what Explore Mission Valley collects, why, and what you can do about it. We try to keep it short and plain.
What we collect
Anonymous usage data. The site uses Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics. These log page views, referrers, approximate location (city-level), device type, and similar non-identifying telemetry. They also record clicks on listing links – which business’s phone number, website, or directions a visitor tapped – so we can tell a business how many customers the directory sent them. None of it identifies you personally.
Newsletter signups. If you subscribe to the seasonal newsletter, your email address is stored on this site and in our MailerLite account, which we use to send the newsletter and nothing else. MailerLite collects basic engagement data (whether emails were opened, links clicked) per their own privacy policy.
Contact form submissions. When you submit the contact form or the list-your-business form, the name, email, and message you provide are stored in WordPress and emailed to us. We keep these submissions so we can follow up.
Cookies. The site uses a small number of cookies. Most are set by Google Analytics to recognize returning visitors across sessions. We don’t use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell, share, or rent any data we collect.
- We don’t run ads from ad networks. No DoubleClick, no Facebook Pixel, no programmatic ad tracking.
- We don’t fingerprint visitors or build user profiles beyond what Google Analytics provides by default.
- We don’t email people who haven’t subscribed to the newsletter.
Who has access
Site data is accessible to Kyle Wright (Celtic Winter Web Development, who builds and maintains this site) and, in the future, to any paid editor or contributor we bring on. MailerLite and Google have access to the data stored in their systems per their own policies.
Your rights
You can:
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email. Unsubscribing removes you immediately and permanently from the list.
- Request a copy of any personal data we have about you. Email us at hello@exploremissionvalley.com and we’ll send what we have within a reasonable timeframe.
- Request deletion of any personal data we have about you. Same email. Note that anonymous analytics data may persist in Google’s systems for their retention period (currently 26 months).
- Opt out of Google Analytics in your browser using Google’s official opt-out browser extension.

Changes to this policy
If we change the data we collect or how we use it, we’ll update this page and bump the “Last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the next newsletter.
