The smallest town on the river, and the valley's melon capital.
Dixon sits on the lower Flathead River where Highway 200 follows the water west, a few minutes downstream of the Bison Range. It is the smallest kind of Montana town: a school, a bar, a post office, and fields that run to the river. Two things worth knowing. The melons – Dixon Melons grow here and show up at farmers markets across Montana every August and September.
