Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge

Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge spreads across the prairie potholes of the Mission Valley, a glacial landscape of small wetlands and upland grasses on Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes trust land. Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, it’s a breeding and staging ground for waterfowl and other water birds.

It’s open for wildlife watching, photography, fishing, hiking, biking, and winter cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Parts of the refuge close during nesting season, so check posted signs and regulations before you head out.
